Latest holiday reading is Andy Weir’s THE MARTIAN. Rare that I read a book before I see the movie – rare that I read a book – but I’m made up that I got ahead of this.
Great to now revisit these early virals and see the universe of the film unpacking itself so precisely:
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that Fox and Ridley Scott’s lot are killing it with ARES: live, riffing on the ubiquity of interstellar travel as YouTube fodder.
Their early work on PROMETHEUS was equally accomplished, using A-list talent and core story to create transmedia marketing of the highest order. (I didn’t love the final movie, but I was definitely fully prepped to.)
Now I find that the regular trailer just broke. If you plan to read THE MARTIAN, and you really should, maybe stow this for later. If, like me, you just put it down – for the first and last time – see what you make of this…
